Comic Book Workshops

Comic book workshops for kids!

My next Comic Book Workshop is coming to Pico Park in Pico Rivera, CA.

This is a 5 week class, where your child will be instructed in how to create their own 4 page comic. They don't have to be great artists, just a desire to tell their own stories! At the end of the course each child will receive printed copies of their comic. Paper and materials are supplied by me.

Classes begin Wednesday, July 3 and run weekly until July 31. Every Tuesday from 5-6:30pm.

Enroll your child, or get more info, at:

Pico Park
9528 Beverly Boulevard
Pico Rivera, CA  90660
(562) 801-4470

Registration costs $38 per student, plus a $5 supply fee paid to me on the first day of class.

Educators and Librarians, I can teach comic book workshops at your locations. Read about my experiences here:

Since 2003, I have been teaching Comic Book Workshops throughout the Los Angeles area. In the past I've taught at the Pico Rivera Center for the Arts, and currently am conducting classes at Pico Park and at A Place Called Home in South Central Los Angeles.

Over the years, I've also given talks and lessons in comic book creation at South El Monte Library and El Monte Library (El Monte), Lamada Park Library and Pasadena Public Library (Pasadena), Countryside Preparatory School (Northridge), Buena Vista Branch Library (Burbank), North Ranchito Elementary (Pico Rivera) and Daniel Phelan Elementary & GEEKS Comics (Whittier).

My programs are aimed for students between 8-18, but other ages can be accommodated. My programs can be divided up into multiple classes over several weeks, or one-time workshops ranging from 45 minutes to 2 hours. I can work with you regarding the structure of the class to fit your requirements.

The focus of my teaching is the storytelling aspects of comics, using words and pictures to tell a story. The art skills aren't the priority, because every student will have varying levels of skills. But if they want to tell a story, I'll guide them through the process of creating characters, story structure and the unique tools available to someone using comics as their storytelling platform.

Please contact me to discuss your needs, my fees and any other questions you may have.

Thank you,
